A Bike Race with Green Ambitions<\/strong><\/p>\n

Copenhagen Sprint works actively to make our cycling races green and sustainable. We see the bicycle as part of the solution to the mobility and climate challenges of the future \u2013 both as a sport and as a means of transport. <\/p>\n

That is why we have a sustainability strategy with four key focus areas:<\/p>\n

Our green goals<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2705 Promote cycling as a sport and transport
\u2705 Inspire citizens to green mobility
\u2705 Taking responsibility in the sport’s green transition
\u2705 Minimize the event’s CO2 footprint<\/p>\n

We work on the basis of a 3-year plan<\/strong>, divided into concrete annual initiatives.
The first Copenhagen Sprint is the start \u2013 but not the finish line.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Our 4 sustainable focus areas<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. Procurement and Suppliers<\/strong><\/p>\n

We make demands on suppliers and choose wisely. All procurement is based on the principles: <\/p>\n

    \n
  • Reduce \u2013 Reuse \u2013 Recycle<\/strong><\/li>\n
  • Reuse of banners, fences and signs (without year)<\/li>\n
  • Washable reusable packaging for food and drink<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    2. Food and Drink<\/strong><\/p>\n

    The food must be both delicious and climate-friendly. Therefore: <\/p>\n

      \n
    • Focus on vegetarian and plant-based dishes<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • Use of local producers<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • Reduced food waste<\/strong> and donation of surplus food<\/li>\n
    • Free water points<\/strong> for refilling water bottles<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      3. Waste and recycling<\/strong><\/p>\n

      Even with green procurement, waste is created \u2013 we take responsibility for that:<\/p>\n

        \n
      • Maximum reuse<\/strong> of materials<\/li>\n
      • Sorting<\/strong> and high recycling<\/li>\n
      • Focus on lower climate impact<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        4. Transportation and Vehicles<\/strong><\/p>\n

        Transport is a major climate culprit. Therefore: <\/p>\n

          \n
        • We encourage the audience and participants to cycle, walk or take public transport<\/strong><\/li>\n
        • Electric cars are<\/strong> used for all race-related purposes<\/li>\n
        • Suppliers are encouraged to green transport<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Social Sustainability<\/strong><\/p>\n

          Our sustainability is not just about the climate \u2013 also about people:<\/p>\n

            \n
          • We collaborate with citizens on Social Exemption Card<\/strong> for waste management<\/li>\n
          • Use of volunteers<\/strong> as officials<\/li>\n
          • Suppliers must meet requirements for decent working conditions<\/strong><\/li>\n
          • We organize an inclusive people’s bike race<\/strong> \u2013 everyone should be able to participate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            Together we roll towards the future.<\/p>\n

            Copenhagen Sprint is more than a bike race. It’s a step towards a greener future \u2013 with the bicycle at the centre.
