A Bike Race with Green Ambitions<\/strong><\/p>\n

Copenhagen Sprint works actively to make our cycling races green and sustainable. We see the bicycle as part of the solution to the mobility and climate challenges of the future \u2013 both as a sport and as a means of transport. <\/p>\n

That is why we have a sustainability strategy with four key focus areas:<\/p>\n

Our green goals<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2705 Promote cycling as a sport and transport
\u2705 Inspire citizens to green mobility
\u2705 Taking responsibility in the sport’s green transition
\u2705 Minimize the event’s CO2 footprint<\/p>\n

We work on the basis of a 3-year plan<\/strong>, divided into concrete annual initiatives.
The first Copenhagen Sprint is the start \u2013 but not the finish line.<\/p>\n

Our 4 sustainable focus areas<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. Procurement and Suppliers<\/strong><\/p>\n

We make demands on suppliers and choose wisely. All procurement is based on the principles: <\/p>\n

    \n
  • Reduce \u2013 Reuse \u2013 Recycle<\/strong><\/li>\n
  • Reuse of banners, fences and signs (without year)<\/li>\n
  • Washable reusable packaging for food and drink<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    2. Food and Drink<\/strong><\/p>\n

    The food must be both delicious and climate-friendly. Therefore: <\/p>\n

      \n
    • Focus on vegetarian and plant-based dishes<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • Use of local producers<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • Reduced food waste<\/strong> and donation of surplus food<\/li>\n
    • Free water points<\/strong> for refilling water bottles
      The total food offering at Copenhagen Sprint must reflect an active awareness of and consideration of, among other things, quality and climate and environmental impact. We therefore want all food stalls in the cycling festival to live up to the following ambitions: \n

      <\/span><\/p>\n

        \n
      • All food stalls should aim for an organic percentage of 90%. In addition, meat and dairy products must be organic. The organic percentage for each food stall is determined by going through all recipes and calculating the total organic percentage for the food stall. <\/span> <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
          \n
        • The menu should aim for a plant-rich composition.<\/span> <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
            \n
          • The menu may not contain beef and lamb, but light meat and fish may be included (possibly as an add-on).<\/span>\u2028<\/span> <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
              \n
            • The food stalls must work to minimize food waste, both in production and on plates.<\/span> <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                \n
              • Where packaging is a prerequisite for serving, washable reusable packaging from New Loop must be used.<\/span> <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                CPH Sprint caters to a diverse audience, which is why there must be something on the menu at affordable prices. The food stalls must therefore offer dishes at family-friendly prices and at least one dish in child-friendly size at a reduced price. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

                Madbodernes will deliver a menu in its own design in accordance with our menu guide, which has been prepared in collaboration with the Danish Vegetarian Association. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                3. Waste and recycling<\/strong><\/p>\n

                Even with green procurement, waste is created \u2013 we take responsibility for that:<\/p>\n

                  \n
                • Maximum reuse<\/strong> of materials<\/li>\n
                • Sorting<\/strong> and high recycling<\/li>\n
                • Focus on lower climate impact<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                  4. Transportation and Vehicles<\/strong><\/p>\n

                  Transport is a major climate culprit. Therefore: <\/p>\n

                    \n
                  • We encourage the audience and participants to cycle, walk or take public transport<\/strong><\/li>\n
                  • Electric cars are<\/strong> used for all race-related purposes<\/li>\n
                  • Suppliers are encouraged to green transport<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                    Social Sustainability<\/strong><\/p>\n

                    Our sustainability is not just about the climate \u2013 also about people:<\/p>\n

                      \n
                    • We collaborate with citizens on Social Exemption Card<\/strong> for waste management<\/li>\n
                    • Use of volunteers<\/strong> as officials<\/li>\n
                    • Suppliers must meet requirements for decent working conditions<\/strong><\/li>\n
                    • We organize an inclusive people’s bike race<\/strong> \u2013 everyone should be able to participate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                      Together we roll towards the future.<\/p>\n

                      A sustainable collaboration with New Loop<\/strong><\/p>\n

                      New Loop is born circular with a clear vision: to reduce the use of single-use packaging and reduce the carbon footprint. We are working towards a future where packaging does not become waste after one use, but is part of an efficient cycle where it can be reused again and again \u2014 and eventually reused into new products. <\/span><\/p>\n

                      We offer a simple and environmentally friendly solution for companies, caf\u00e9s and events that want an alternative to disposable cups and tableware. With our circular deposit and return system, we take care of the entire process: delivery, collection, payment of deposit and washing of cups, mugs and tableware, so that it can easily be used again in a closed loop. <\/span><\/p>\n

                      In this way, we help our customers reduce waste, save resources and take an active step towards a more responsible and circular business. <\/span><\/p>\n

                      Copenhagen Sprint x Heartbeat Studio<\/strong><\/p>\n

                      From banner to meaning
                      At Heartbeat Studio, we believe that materials have more than one life.
                      In collaboration with Copenhagen Sprint, we have transformed used event banners into unique bags, and given the materials their second life.<\/p>\n

                      The bags are designed and produced in our studio in Bording, where we work every day to give surplus materials new value through circular design. No two bags are the same: colours, graphic details and traces of their past lives make each one a small piece of event history. <\/p>\n

                      The collaboration is therefore about more than creating a product. It’s about showing how events can be thought of more circularly and how surplus materials can be transformed into meaningful products with real environmental and social significance. <\/p>\n

                      Circularity is also not bound by geography. If we are to create real change, the solutions must be global. Materials should not be sent around the world unnecessarily to get their second life. Instead, they must be transformed where they arise. Therefore, we develop circular solutions both locally and internationally, always with respect for the material and the context in which it is used. <\/p>\n

                      When you carry the bag forward in everyday life, you not only carry memories from the event, but also concrete proof that responsible choices can be integrated into even the biggest events.
