Mar 10, 2025

DR has secured the rights to the new World Tour cycling race Copenhagen Sprint, where the world’s elite women and men compete to be the first across the finish line in Copenhagen. The stage is set for a big party in June with visits from some of cycling’s biggest Danish and international stars. DR is with you all the way.

All of Denmark can now join in when some of the best cyclists in the world race against each other on Danish soil in the new World Tour cycling race Copenhagen Sprint. DR has just secured the rights to show the race for the next two years and will broadcast both the women’s and men’s races live in full length this summer when the race takes place on 21st and June 22.

“We look forward to inviting all Danes to world-class cycling races in the beautiful scenery of the Danish country roads and our capital city. There’s nothing like sport to bring Danes together in great communities across the divides that normally divide us. Great Danish achievements on the bike is something that has united us for many years in Denmark, and I’m sure that many will follow when some of cycling’s biggest stars compete to cross the line first in Copenhagen”, says Anders Kern Boje, Deputy Director of DR Nyheder with responsibility for sports.

“Across DR’s various platforms and editorial teams, we see the rights to show Copenhagen Sprint as an obvious starting point to engage and gather the Danes for a celebration of the unique Danish cycling culture this summer,” continues Anders Kern Boje.

The riders will start in Roskilde and the race will culminate with a spectacular circuit in the streets of Copenhagen, where the riders will sprint for victory.

Copenhagen Sprint is organized by World Tour CPH, owned by the Danish Cycling Union in close collaboration with a group of partners consisting of the Ministry of Culture and Business, Copenhagen and Roskilde Municipality and Sport Event Denmark.

“Getting Copenhagen Sprint on national TV has been important for us. DR’s coverage ensures that all Danes can follow the world elite competing on Danish asphalt – from the start in Roskilde to the intense final in the streets of Copenhagen. At the same time, it will be a festival along the route where everyone is invited to experience world-class cycling up close. We look forward to seeing all of Denmark rallying around Copenhagen Sprint – both on screen and on the roads.” says Director of Copenhagen Sprint, Tobias Hoff.

Copenhagen Sprint has a good position in the UCI race calendar and a large number of the world’s best riders are expected to start in Denmark.

On June 21, the women will race a 151 km route. First 118 km from Roskilde to Copenhagen followed by 3 laps in Copenhagen on an 11 km circuit.

On June 22, it’s the men’s turn. They first drive 181 km from Roskilde to Copenhagen and then take 5 laps on the 11 km circular route in Copenhagen.

It starts at the Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde and finishes at the National Gallery of Denmark in Copenhagen. The route winds through the North Zealand countryside with scenic roads, castles and landmarks, eventually ending in the streets of Copenhagen over bridges, lakes and past the buildings and sights of historic and modern Copenhagen.

In connection with the race, a folk bike race will also be held, where all citizens will have the opportunity to ride the 11 km circuit in the streets of Copenhagen.
