This summer, Lidl will become the official sponsor of the Copenhagen Sprint, where, among others, the Danish sprinter Mads Pedersen from Lidl-Trek will be at the start.
Lidl will become the Official Fresh Food Partner and will be visible along the route that cuts through Zealand and ends in Copenhagen. Here, Lidl will ensure that Danish cycling fans have a good experience – both on and off the road.
“We are excited to welcome Lidl as the Official Fresh Food Partner for the Copenhagen Sprint. Lidl has supported cycling at the highest level for several years and shares our ambition to promote cycling – both as a sport and as a natural part of everyday life,” says Tobias Hoff, CEO of Copenhagen Sprint.
The commitment to cycling is a natural extension of Lidl’s focus on health. As a grocery chain, Lidl works purposefully to promote healthier choices in everyday life – and this is from the establishment of the Legume Partnership to the decision to remove tobacco and nicotine from all stores by 2028. At the same time, Lidl has taken the lead in testing the effect of VAT-free fruit and vegetables to see how it affects Danes’ shopping habits. All to make it easier to make healthy choices.
“We want to be more than a grocery chain – we want to be a part of Danes’ everyday lives and inspire healthier choices. Cycling is a fantastic platform for exactly that, and we look forward to being an active part of these two major cycling events,” concludes Peer Sandtner.
In addition to being one of the main sponsors of PostNord Danmark Rundt, Lidl has become known in the cycling world in record time – primarily through its sponsorship of Lidl-Trek, where some of Denmark’s biggest cycling stars – including Mads Pedersen and Mattias Skjelmose – are creating results on an international level.
