Podium revenge for the women’s Copenhagen Sprint?

All teams for the women’s edition of Copenhagen Sprint are now in place. When the race is run on Saturday 13 June 2026, 16 teams will start. The teams that made it into the top five at the premiere last year are back on the start list. The organizers therefore see good opportunities for a podium revenge when the peloton hits Sølvgade in Copenhagen.

A total of 16 teams participate: 10 World Tour teams and six continental teams. Among the confirmed teams are Lidl-Trek, Team SD Worx – Protime, Uno-X Mobility, Team Picnic PostNL and Team Visma | Lease a Bike.

This opens up a field with significant sprint strength and big names.

“We are still waiting for the preliminary start lists, but on the registered teams we find, among others, last year’s winner Lorena Wiebes, second place Elisa Balsamo and third place Chiara Consonni. It promises to be a competitive field with some of the most winning sprinters in the women’s field,” says race director Jesper Tikiøb.

Applied for Danish national team
As for the men’s race, the organizers have applied to the UCI for the opportunity to invite a Danish national team to the start.

“We want to use Copenhagen Sprint actively to lift Danish women’s cycling. It’s not just about running a World Tour race, it’s also about creating a stage where Danish riders can get the exposure that a World Tour race on Danish soil provides, and at the same time get an experience at the very highest international level,” says Jesper Tikiøb.

The organizers have also chosen to have the same prize money in the women’s and men’s races – a conscious choice to support the ambition to promote gender equality in cycling.
