The women’s national road team has been selected for the new World Tour race Copenhagen Sprint, which will be held on Saturday 21 June 2025.
The race stretches over 151.3 km from Roskilde to Copenhagen and offers a unique opportunity for the Danish riders to compete against the world’s elite on home soil.
Elite boss Morten Bennekou has selected the following riders:
Ellen Hjøllund Klinge (Carbonbike Giordana by Gen Z)
Laura Auerbach-Lind (Team Sydbank Quooker Njord Law)
Marita Jensen (Team FRIIS ABC ACR)
Gertrud Riis Madsen (Team Aalborg Sparekassen Danmark Women)
Caroline Kirk (Team FRIIS ABC ACR)
Christina Lorenzen (Team FRIIS ABC ACR)
“We have selected an exciting national team, preferably selected from among the domestic elite riders. The team consists of a good mix of experienced forces and young talented riders,” says Morten Bennekou. “We do not come to Copenhagen Sprint with the expectation of an absolute top position in a very strong field with many World Tour teams and riders, but we believe and expect that we will make a good impression on the race, and we are very much looking forward to running a World Tour race on home soil and not least to end the race with the local laps in the middle of Copenhagen.”
When selecting riders for the national team, it must take place among riders from teams that do not start in Copenhagen Sprint. This means that you cannot choose among the Danish professional women’s riders, as they have the opportunity to start with their own teams. Therefore, the selected national team riders are mainly from Danish teams, where they do not ride professionally, but combine their cycling career with work on the side.
Elite manager Morten Bennekou will act as assistant sports director during the race, while Anders Fialla will take on the role of sports director.
