Traffic info FAQ

We have collected the most frequently asked questions about traffic during Copenhagen Sprint here, so you can hopefully find answers to what you are looking for.

Can you drive a car on the route during the bike race?

The route is closed to traffic during the bike race due to safety. The route closes approx. 60 minutes before the riders arrive and opens again immediately after the last support cars have passed.

The circuit in Copenhagen is completely closed to stopping, parking and through car traffic from Saturday. 21/6 at 05:00 – Sunday 22/6 at 22:00.

There will be traffic locks that are open from Saturday at 8 pm to Sunday at 9.15 am. After the bike race on Sunday, they will open again at 16.45.

The finish area on Sølvgade will be closed to stopping, parking and through car traffic from Friday 20/6 at 18.00 to Sunday 22/6 at 22.00.

Fire and rescue vehicles will of course always have access via planned and maintained rescue routes.

I live outside Copenhagen and am going to hold an event. What do I do?

Your guests should know that the cycle route is closed to all car traffic for approx. 1.5-2 hours. They can inform you about the route and times for the closure in the individual municipalities here: https://copenhagensprint.com/trafikinfo/

We encourage you to find alternative routes and leave well in advance. See the current traffic status on www.trafikinfo.dk and listen to DR P4 traffic radio.

All highways are open as usual.

The Copenhagen Sprint route in Copenhagen is closed to car traffic from Saturday. 21/6 at 05:00 – Sunday 22/6 at 22:00. Pay extra attention to the finish area, where it is already blocked from Friday 20/6 at 6 pm. Expect extra runtime.

Is it possible to park on the route?

No. The entire route must be free of cars, and the ban applies to both stopping and parking. This ban is enforced by the police, and illegally parked cars will be removed.

We encourage you to find out before the race about where you can park or, if possible, leave the car at home.

In Copenhagen on the circuit, there is a ban on stopping and parking from Friday 20 June at 18:00 to Sunday 22 June at 22:00. There are a few bans that come into force earlier (there will be signage on the street).

Where should we park our car when there is a parking ban?

Outside of Copenhagen, you have to find a place that is not part of the route.
In Copenhagen, parking becomes very difficult during the Copenhagen Sprint. It is a big event, and many parking spaces will be included – especially in the inner city, in Nørrebro and Østerbro.

We encourage you to park outside the city center during the event. Unfortunately, we cannot assign alternative parking spaces.

How much is blocked off in Copenhagen?

The route until the circuit (primarily in Frederiksberg) will be closed from Saturday 21/6: 14.45-17.00 and again Sunday 22/6: 13.30-15.30.

The 11 km circuit in Copenhagen is blocked from Saturday. 21/6 at 05:00 – Sunday 22/6 at 22:00.

There will be traffic locks that can be used on Saturday evening from 8 pm to Sunday morning at 9.15 am, and again after the bike race on Sunday at 4.45 pm.

The traffic locks can be found on the interactive traffic map for Copenhagen: https://map.copenhagensprint.com/

How will bicycle traffic in Copenhagen be affected?

You will be able to cycle around Copenhagen, but both Saturday and Sunday, the area around the circuit will be difficult to access by bike due to spectators.

From Saturday morning at 05:00 to Sunday evening at 22:00 you cannot cycle along the route, but you will be able to cross the circuit by pulling your bike through a bicycle passage, but during the World Tour cycling race it will be difficult to pass, as bicycles, cars and motorcycles will come at very short intervals.

Cyclists can advantageously cycle along the Lakes (through the viaducts).

Can I use public transport?

Yes, especially the Metro and S-train are an obvious and a good choice during the Copenhagen Sprint. They are running as normal and even at increased capacity.
Buses are not such an obvious choice, as some bus departures will be cancelled and there may be changes in bus traffic. You can orient yourself on dinoffentligetransport.dk or on rejseplanen.dk.
You can buy an event ticket for public transport – here one adult can bring two children under the age of 12 for free, and the ticket is valid for 12 hours. You can buy the event ticket here or in the “DOT Tickets” app.
