Bicycle race
On 13 June at 13-15, the City of Copenhagen and Copenhagen Sprint invite you to a free people’s bike race. At the people’s bike race, you will have the opportunity to cycle on the closed route in Copenhagen, before the elite riders will sprint for victory in the same streets a few hours later. So bring your children, friends or colleagues and have a unique cycling experience in Copenhagen.
The Folkecykel race will start with a joint start at 1 p.m. at the finish line on Sølvgade by the National Gallery of Denmark. From 13-15 the route is open, where you can choose to cycle part of the route or the entire route of 10 km. You can both start at the group start at 1 pm or jump on the route where it suits you (See map of the route below).
It is free and does not require registration to cycle to the people’s bike race – you just show up with your bike.
13.00: Joint start at the finish line on Sølvgade by the National Gallery of Denmark

15.00: The Folkecykel race is over, but the cycling party continues in the festival in Østre Anlæg.
Reach the finish line at Østerport: After the finish line, you can hop off at Østerport, where you can see the professional team buses, get face paint and a temporary bicycle tattoo, before the cycling party continues in Østre Anlæg.
Everyone is welcome to cycle in the people’s bike race. It is free and requires no registration – you just show up with your bike.
In the period from 13-15, the route is open and you can start whenever you want, but no later than 14.30. You can hop on and off the route at eight places in the city:
- Jagtvej v. Fensmarksgade
- Blegdamsvej v. Læssøesgade
- Fredens Park v. Tagensvej
- Øster Voldgade v. Kronprinsessegade (Hop off to the bike festival)
- Adelgade v. Silver Street
- Øster Voldgade v. Gothersgade
- HC Andersens Boulevard v. Vesterbrogade
- Øster Søgade v. Dronning Louises Bro
Have photos of yourself sent
Our photographers are ready along the route to capture the atmosphere and all of you on the bikes — so keep an eye on the cameras and put a smile on your face!
All photos will be posted online after the race. If you register with your email address and a selfie, we can automatically find the photos you are in and send them directly to you for free.
Please note that everyone can participate for free in the Folkecykel race and the registration here is just an opportunity to receive the photos that will be taken of you during the race.
