Almost eight out of ten spectators surveyed want to return to Copenhagen Sprint. At the same time, a new study from the Danish Institute for Sports Analysis puts numbers on what it is worth to Copenhageners that the race is held.
We are grateful that the second edition of Copenhagen Sprint offered great experiences in and outside the field. Now a new evaluation from the analysis institute Wilke gathers the results from the race weekend.
Wilkes’ spectator survey shows that 79 per cent of the surveyed spectators would like to return to Copenhagen Sprint next year. At the same time, 83 per cent are enthusiastic about international sports events coming to Denmark.
Copenhageners’ willingness to pay calculated at DKK 46 million.
The evaluation also includes results from the Danish Institute for Sports Analysis’ new study of the value of Copenhagen Sprint for the citizens of the City of Copenhagen.
Based on 3,669 responses, Idan estimates the average willingness to pay for the 2028 event to be DKK 139 per household. If you combine the municipality’s households, this corresponds to a total willingness to pay of DKK 46 million.
In comparison, the City of Copenhagen’s grant for Copenhagen Sprint is DKK 8.5 million in 2028. The study was included in the decision-making basis when the municipality decided to extend its support until 2030.
Good experiences on and along the route
Among the surveyed spectators who participated in the People’s Bicycle Race, 88 per cent think it was a good event. Of those who visited the festival site in Østre Anlæg, 85 per cent liked it.
There was also great satisfaction among the volunteers. Here, 87 percent state that they were satisfied with their experience at Copenhagen Sprint.
