The Danish women’s and men’s national teams will once again start when Copenhagen Sprint returns in 2026. After the participation in 2025, it has now been confirmed that the national teams will once again be part of our Danish World Tour races.
Participation requires approval from the International Cycling Union (UCI), and it has now fallen into place. It is not a matter of course in a World Tour race that national teams can participate, and therefore it is also an important confirmation for the race.
For the spectators, this means that they will once again have the opportunity to experience Danish riders in the red and white colors when they start against some of the world’s best professional teams.
An important opportunity for Danish riders
The national teams are very enthusiastic about being part of Copenhagen Sprint again – both in terms of talent development and sporting ambitions.
“We are proud and honored as a national team to be able to participate in Copenhagen Sprint. It is a unique opportunity for some of our greatest talents to feel the level of the World Tour and at the same time a fantastic showcase. Our ambition is to create an exciting bike race in the streets of Copenhagen and measure ourselves against the world elite,” says national coach of the men’s national team Michael Mørkøv.
Also on the women’s side, participation is an important part of the work to develop the riders of the future.
“It is super important for us to have the chance to compete with the Danish women’s national team in Copenhagen Sprint, and we come with both pride and humility. We are fielding a group of young riders who will gain valuable experience – and at the same time we hope to be able to participate when the race is decided,” says national coach of the women’s national team Mette Andersen.
